Salutations Dear Friends!

It's that time again! The time when I show you what I'm up to!!
I know that this is your favourite part of your day :)
I will not disappoint you, fair citizen!
Onwards to the Works in Progress!!

First off is my 'Letter K' Project. This is a one week mini project. I was given a letter and then I was told to pick an animal that a child would recognize. Then I was to take that animal and illustrate the letter using the animal!
So I got the letter K. And I chose the Koala.
I originally wanted to do a Kookaburra, but apparently no one in my class knows about the poor little bird. So I had to choose something a bit more conventional.
I'm pretty happy with it. There's a few things I'd like to change before turning it in, but here he is!

Next up is our word association project. We were told to pick a word from a list and then do an illustration of what comes to mind when we see the word.
So I picked 'Dapper.'
Firstly, it's one of my favourite words.
Secondly, I'll gladly take the opportunity to draw a man in 20's get-up any day!
So this is my initial rough sketch. I have about seven different layers of hair, ties, and moustaches that I switch between every five seconds. So I'm not sure what I'll chose yet. although I'm fairly certain I'll use this pose and such. (although, as I proof read this, I keep getting distracted by that left's over too far....)

Last but not least is my comic. This year, my Graphic Narratives class has been invited to have a table to sell comics at a local convention. So right now we're all working on little comics to sell at the con! I decided to do the origin story of my boys, Villain and Do-Gooder! The first page is completely done, and the second page is a work in progress.

Other than these things, I'm working on a tempera resist painting and a caricature.  I have never done an actual caricature in my life, it's so very out of my comfort zone, but I'm trying! So that's all that matters right? Keep your fingers crossed that I'll be able to pull it off!

Stay cozy and have a nice warm cuppa for me!
Yours truly,

The Man and the Sea

So here's an updated sketch of my Sailor and the Sea!

A Bit of an Update

So hello!
there's been a lot going on, but I thought I would check in with you to show you what I'm up to right now!

Let's start with my recently finished project: The creature.

For this project we had to combine 2-3 animals to create a new creature. So I chose an elephant and a cassowary! And I made the cassowary more tropical with the colours. I'm not completely finished, but this is what I brought in for crit.

Now onto the wine bottle project!
Remember those pesky lions? Well here they are in all their finished glory!
I don't normally do very well on group projects unless I'm in charge. But I think I did okay this time! Our wine company was based off of alchemic pairings of animals which represented spirit and soul. So we have the unicorn and the deer, the knight and the dragon, and the lion and lioness. The symbol that we used is an alchemic symbol that has to do with your wild animal side coming out, and then we put that in the triangle because that represents femininity. (we were an all girl group)

Now we get to the works in progress. Currently, I'm working on several projects, but I only have a couple of in process pictures to show you.

The first is a free project. We can literally do what ever we want. So of course, I gravitated towards the nautical. I wanted to play with the idea of man trying to tame the sea. Or even like how they say that the sea is a cruel mistress. So I'm playing with having a rather well moustachioed sailor man trying to embrace the sea, but of course, she's trying to pull away. I'm not completely sold on the composition or anything yet. Still playing around.

Then the Alice in Wonderland project. One of the wealthiest men in Cleveland is a big collector of Alice in Wonderland illustrations and books, so we have been asked to create illustrations based on AiW. I guess that this is in the hope that he may donate money to the illustration department like he did to industrial design.  I decided to create an illustration of the dormouse while he is reciting his "tail." I'll post the watercolours that I've done for it later once I have a chance to scan them in!

And that's all for right now! Have a nice day :)

So I've been working on my Lions more. And I've been ignoring all of the pencils I have to do for this week....shhhh...
So here are my still wip lions. Complete with test run colours and textures!
Dees wine bottles are going to be stellar, bro.

Wine Bottles

So we've been working on our wine bottle label design thingy project for a few weeks now, and Team Girl Squad finally has some line-work to show ya'll.

Here's Amalia's knight and dragon:

And here is Brittany's deer and unicorn:

AND here are my lions!

Whew. At last, something more than frustrating sketches on tracing paper. I've had it up to here *holds hand above head* with these lions.
My line work is a lot thinner :< but I hope that it'll be okay once it's been coloured and everything.

Onwards and upwards.
